Deer Hollow Pass Restoration
Before:
August 2009-
We are currently in the process of under taking a big renovation project. We are using gravel to fix bumps and erosion on the Deer Hollow Pass from the western end of the trail with Moose Creek Trail to Chickadee Creek. A piece of plywood is being used where a gully resides allowing water from the northern side of the trail to drain with gravity under the trail and towards the main stream. A culvert is going to be used to divert water from Chickadee Creek across the trail where it will not cause erosion of the trail bed. The current trail consists of bumps and an eroded trail surface as well as water from Chickadee Creek running straight down the trail. The gravel will fix the erosion so the trail surface is more smooth and easy for mountain bikes to use. See pictures below in the slide show of the project.
Gravel purchased at New Hampshire Rocks.
After:
November 2009-
We are proud to announce the completion of the Deer Hollow Pass Restoration Project. The trail is now a smooth and enjoyable one with the water successfully diverted away from the trail. Thank you New Hampshire Rocks for selling the gravel to us.
