Murphy Trail:

A 32 foot long foot bridge was constructed with wood from Milford Lumber using 2" x 8" x 16' pieces of wood along with planks cut to 32" to maximize the use of materials. Smaller 2" x 8" pieces where placed at 6 foot intervals as support members for the 16 foot long span.

The two-16 foot sections where joined together in the center using a small scarp pieces of wood and 2" exterior screws.

Ramps where constructed using the same methodology as the main sections on all the Murphy Trail bridges to make it easier for cross country skiing in the winter and hiking in the Summer (right image). The left image shows the bridge before adding ramps.

Since the trail took a perpendicular turn at the end of the main 32 foot section, another partial section of bridge was constructed (right image) to cross a wet area right next to Moose Creek Trail instead of building a traditional ramp which would lead off the trail (left image).

A closer look at some of the ramps constructed on end of the foot bridges.

A view of the southern end of the trail which is going to be rerouted straight towards the rotary instead of taking an odd turn through the two big trees.
